2009 held its big gun all the way out to December with the landmark release of James Cameron’s Avatar. But the summer blockbuster season still started with a bang courtesy of the warp drive kicking in on J.J. Abrams’ reboot of the Star Trek movie franchise. With truly stellar casting and a healthy respect for all that came before, Abrams none-the-less made this Star Trek once and for all his own.

Welcome to the Trailer Takes section of the Moviedozer Archive. The trailer reviews archived here are in the same format as they appeared when they were first published and are arranged here in order of release date for the film. The original poster art that accompanies each in most cases was the primary poster at time of release. By clicking on the posters, many will still link back to their original trailers.

We acknowledge that the art of the trailer is truly art with a purpose. Sometimes the art of the trailer is a terrific tease to an exceptional film and sometimes it’s just art, in and of itself. If it gets you excited, curious or interested and you buy a ticket, that would be where art blends into commerce. When the ticket you buy results in a less than satisfying time in your cinema, you can’t fault the editors and designers of the trailer.
